Biological assessment of contaminated shooting range soil using earthworm biomarkers

چکیده
Environmental contamination at shooting ranges is a widely known ecological problem. The aim of the study was to evaluate extent and ecotoxicity range soil assessing physiological biochemical effects on earthworm Eisenia fetida (Savigny). Adult E. were exposed soils collected from different distances for 28 days. High concentrations Pb (53023 mg kg−1), increased Ni (12 kg−1) Sb (600 significantly higher organic matter content (7.2%) density (6.14 g cm−3) determined in backstop berm soil. Significant weight loss (44.4%) adult earthworms after days exposure occurred most contaminated (3101 Cu (51 (2 (20 tissues worms, no juveniles found there. Juveniles less (A, B C) accumulated significant Pb, Cu, Fe, Mn, Zn. antioxidant enzymatic activity (glutathione-s-transferase (GST)) decreased, lipid peroxidation as indicated by an increase malondialdehyde (MDA) level A compensatory mechanism between activities glutathione reductase (GR) GST these confirmed.

assessment of the efficiency of s.p.g.c refineries using network dea
data envelopment analysis (dea) is a powerful tool for measuring relative efficiency of organizational units referred to as decision making units (dmus). in most cases dmus have network structures with internal linking activities. traditional dea models, however, consider dmus as black boxes with no regard to their linking activities and therefore do not provide decision makers with the reasons...
Toxicity assessment for chlorpyrifos-contaminated soil with three different earthworm test methods.
Earthworm toxicity tests are useful tools for terrestrial risk assessment but require a hierarchy of test designs that differ in effect levels (behavior, sublethal, lethal). In this study, the toxicity of chlorpyrifos contaminated soil on earthworms was assessed. In addition to the acute and chronic tests, an avoidance response test was applied. Earthworms were exposed to sublethal and lethal c...
متن کاملToxic Effect of Cadmium Assay in Contaminated Soil Earthworm Cell Using Modified Sensor
A voltammetric toxic metal of cadmium detection was studied using a fluorine doped graphite pencil electrode (FPE) in a seawater electrolyte. In this study, square wave (SW) stripping and chronoamerometry were used for determination of Cd(II) in seawater. Affordable pencils and an auxiliary electrode were used as reference. All experiments in this study could be performed at reasonable cost by ...
